“Lasers in Dentistry” Description:

New technologies in dental treatment: addition or addiction, future or reality in dental offices nowadays?

Dentistry is a rapidly developing field of medicine. Technologies, which only a few years ago were unheard of and unattainable, are now more and more frequently used in various clinical procedures.

During the lecture, the protocols of treatment with the use of CAD CAM technology and Nd:YAG and Er:YAG lasers will be presented in the course of different dental procedures being part of prosthetic, implantological, conservative, periodontal and surgical treatment. In case of implant-prosthetic procedures, we make use of digital techniques already at the stage of treatment planning, i.e., computer navigation, then implantation featuring specially printed surgical templates, finishing off with prosthetic restorations also entirely designed in a digital way and milled in dedicated numerically controlled machines. The lecture will show the possibility of wholly digital procedure to be applied in case of immediate implantation with immediate loading. Intra-oral scanning and digital planning (computer navigation) allows us to treat extremely demanding cases in a quick and predictable way.

Lasers, in turn, are the state-of-the-art and the most advanced technology used in dentistry. Er:YAG and Nd:YAG lasers are highly versatile tools. Very often our procedures and treatment are not possible to be conducted without lasers, sometimes they are devices which support our work and enable us to achieve better results.

During the presentation, different indications for the use of lasers will be shown, among others: digital protocols of procedure in immediate implantation, distractive osteotomy with implantation, as well as crown lengthening before planned comprehensive prosthetic treatment. The presentation will also list the advantages of laser use in comparison to the conventional treatment. Such approach equips us with convenient and predictable treatment protocol in implantology, surgery and prosthetic restorations in aesthetic zone. The presented procedures are comfortable both for the patient and the doctor and thanks to the applied modern technology we have access to totally new treatment possibilities.
