Co-Sponsor Options

The current options for sponsorship with the VDDS include:

  1. CE Single Day Program Co-Sponsor (see upcoming Continuing Education lectures)
  2. Sustaining Co-Sponsor (an option that many companies prefer)

Details

a. CE Single Day Program Co-Sponsor

This option enables Co-Sponsors to have a display on event day. The Co-Sponsors covers a portion of the speaker honourarium (the VDDS covers all other CE program costs). A detailed list of benefits is available upon request, and includes an ad in the annual VDDS program booklet.

The minimum CE Program Co-Sponsorship is $2,500 for a 6-hr day.

b. Sustaining Co-Sponsor

This option involves an annual sustaining co-sponsorship of VDDS programs [the current amounts are $1,500 and $3,000, with a commitment to sustain this level of co-sponsorship for three years or more]. This is an option that many companies prefer. The companies that provide an annual sponsorship of $1,500 are invited to have a display at one of the annual CE programs, the one the VDDS thinks might be most appropriate, and they are acknowledged with their logo at VDDS special CE events. For $3,000, the VDDS purchases door prizes on the Co-Sponsor’s behalf for each of 5 business meetings and 3 annual social events and invites the Co-Sponsor to host a display at one of the annual CE programs, and they are acknowledged with their logo at VDDS special CE events.

The $3,000 option allows for maximum exposure with VDDS dentist members.

Benefits

The mutual benefits of co-sponsorship are an enduring legacy of the VDDS. Since the inception of the concept in 1996 by Dr. Chris Bryant, then the volunteer Scientific Director for the VDDS, the participation of companies has enabled the VDDS to become a much admired and respected local society, due to the quality of its programming and its phenomenal participation by local dentists and their staff.

VDDS Co-Sponsors enjoy the opportunity to participate in our continuing education programs, and Sustaining Co-Sponsors at the $3,000 level are also acknowledged at each social event and business meeting, as a portion of their co-sponsorship goes towards draw prizes for the participants. The continuing education programs allow direct one to one dialog between the corporation, lecturer, dentists, and dental auxiliaries. Co-Sponsors have found it a valuable interaction, allowing direct contact without being on the heels of the local sales representatives, and without trying to squeeze information exchange in the often harried schedule of the different dental practices.

The venue at which we present the seminars is the Victoria Conference Centre. The Conference Centre is located in the heart of Victoria adjacent to The Fairmont Empress hotel. The lecture hall is the finest that Victoria has to offer with seating for 400 people in a very comfortable setting and availability of a complete selection of state of the art audio visual equipment.

CE Single Day Program Co-Sponsors are generally requested to pay for a portion of he speaker’s honourarium. The VDDS, through door receipts and membership dues underwrites the expenses of catering, speaker transportation and hosting costs, stationary, promotion, audio visual rental and setup, and venue rental.

CE Single Day Program Co-Sponsors:

  • cover a portion of the honorarium or extraordinary travel or production expenses;
  • are acknowledged in the VDDS annual program booklet, mail outs, and at the seminar;
  • are provided with space in the VDDS annual program for a half page black and white ad;
    • 3.5” wide x 3.25” high
    • black & white
    • email digital file to info@vicdds.ca
    • the program booklet is distributed to over 450 dentists and dental offices on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands
  • are provided with an area to display information about products and services and for sales representative(s) to interact with the lecturer, dentists, and auxiliaries on event day. Companies may also arrange telephone, fax lines and ISDN lines with internet service at their expense.

The VDDS is top-of-the-class in terms of local societies across Canada, and much of this is a result of Co-Sponsor continuing support. The commitment of Co-Sponsors contributes to making it possible for the VDDS to plan for outstanding guest speaker CE events, which fulfills one of the two mandates of the VDDS. With a sound financial footing, the VDDS is able to plan ahead, knowing that they will be able to bring in great speakers. This, in turn, encourages membership, and a great turn-out at events. And, sustaining co-sponsorship funding encourages camaraderie through draw prizes at business meetings and social events. The excellent level of member and allied personnel participation in VDDS continuing education and social programs enables the VDDS to fulfill its second mandate, that of fellowship amongst its members!
